The Goldilocks Zone in Cooling Demand: What Can We Do Better?

چکیده
Abstract The higher frequency and intensity of sustained heat events have increased the demand for cooling energy across globe. Current estimates summer‐time are primarily based on Cooling Degree Days (CDD), representing number degrees a day's average temperature exceeds predetermined comfort zone temperature. Through comprehensive analysis historical data USA, we show that commonly used CDD fall significantly short (±25%) capturing regional thermal levels. Moreover, given increasingly compelling evidence air alone is not sufficient characterizing human comfort, extend widely calculation to index, which accounts both humidity. Our results indicate significant mis‐estimation when humidity ignored. findings implications security, sustainability, resilience grid under climate change.

tube thoracostomy (chest tube) removal in traumatic patients: what do we know? what can we do?
chest tube (ct) or tube thoracostomy placement is often indicated following traumatic injuries. premature movement of the chest tube leads to increased hospital complications and costs for patients. placement of a chest tube is indicated in drainage of blood, bile, pus, drain air, and other fluids. although there is a general agreement for the placement of a chest tube, there is little consensu...
متن کاملIntrinsic Evaluations of Word Embeddings: What Can We Do Better?
This paper presents an analysis of existing methods for the intrinsic evaluation of word embeddings. We show that the main methodological premise of such evaluations is “interpretability” of word embeddings: a “good” embedding produces results that make sense in terms of traditional linguistic categories. This approach is not only of limited practical use, but also fails to do justice to the st...
متن کاملG2p conversion of names: what can we do (better)?
In this contribution it is shown that a good approach for the grapheme-to-phoneme conversion of proper names (e.g. person names, toponyms, etc), is to use a cascade of a general purpose grapheme-to-phoneme (G2P) converter and a special purpose phoneme-to-phoneme (P2P) converter. The G2P produces an initial transcription that is then transformed by the P2P. The latter is automatically trained on...

The management of irreparable rotator cuff tears remains challenging. Since its introduction by Mihata in 2012, superiorcapsule reconstruction (SCR) has grown in popularity at an astonishingly rapid rate. The aim of this article is to providea comprehensive review of the available literature, in order to highlight what has so far been published on SCR,covering all aspects including biomechanica...
